.Important - Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy.
Here are our Terms & Conditions. Here is our Privacy Policy. Please read both despite how boring they are so you're fully aware of how we operate and treat your personal information. Thanks!
.Payment & Shipping.
.Do you ship internationally?
Yes, yes we do. All international orders (other than New Zealand) are required to pay in $US. There's a slightly higher flat shipping charge because we're based in Australia which as we all know is in the middle of nowhere.
.How is shipping locally and internationally done?
Internationally we use Australia Post AirMail which is very reliable and they say estimated delivery is within 3-10 days. Locally we use Australia Post Standard Mail which can vary from a day to a couple of weeks. If you want your tee super quick we can Express Post it and you'll have it within one or two days. This costs AU$5 extra however.
.What payment options do you accept?
We use PayPal as our go-to man for this kind of thing. They accept PayPal account transfers, MasterCard, VISA, AMEX, Discover, and ECheck Payments. A PayPal account is not required to order.
.Can payment be made in a different currency? (not AU$ or US$)
Yes. Your credit card company or PayPal will automatically convert the correct amount of your local currency into the AU$ or US$ equivalent for purchasing from us. You don't have to do anything. Note that they probably have a 2% charge or something similar to do the currency conversion because they like feasting on dollar bills.
.How secure is your website?
Very. We use PayPal and all orders are processed through their secure systems. Being a leviathan of a company they use all the latest encryption technologies and techniques to ensure the security of their many transactions each day. Nothing to fear!
.It doesn't fit because I was too lazy to check the "sizing" section and measure myself.
Tsk tsk. If you send it back within 14 days of receipt, in perfect condition (determined by our monkey team) and pay for shipping costs then we will accept it. Just let us know what new size you want. NB: We'll only send the new tee out upon receipt of your old one.
.It's damaged
Well I never! Send it back and we'll have it replaced - post-haste!
.The Clothing.
.Where are your tees from?
We don't use pre-made garments like American Apparel, Hanes or Fruit of the Loom. Instead we're using our own custom tee block. It's been developed and tweaked for the last three years so we're pretty happy with it. They are 180gsm 100% Combed Cotton.
.But where are they made?
China. Specifically, Hong Kong. This is to keep costs down, and even then its still not that good (because we're only doing small volumes).
.Why the hell am I paying so much for this? I can buy other t-shirts for $5/$10/$15/$etc
Because its been infused with creativity, fun, inspiration and a Hindu blessing. You want to know what you're getting for your money? Alright then!
1) Cost of the Tee: Changes each month based upon print colours, ink type, size, placement, embroidery inclusion etc. You're looking at between AU$10-AU$16. This cost includes the fabric, make, print, shipping to Australia and customs duty.
2) Cost of the Art: Not cheap. We pay James AU$600 per design and that AU$600 has to be made back through each tee sale.
3) Cost of Packaging: Bag Thank You note, and stickers - AU$3
4) Cost of Shipping: To you, via Australia Post. It varies depending on where you live.
Now that's just for the base tee. That doesn't include the cost of:
5) The Website & Hosting: Which we have to make back through each tee sale.
6) Our time: Serving esteemed individuals like yourself, working on the next months tee, researching, liasing with suppliers, the list goes on.
7) Our sponsorship: We sponsor a child in India because it's the right thing to do and that's what we're about.
8) Our rent: Yep.
The final four we pay for through the profit made from each sale. The first four are amortised into the cost of the garment directly.
.I'm a girl and there's no girl stuff..
Yeah, about that...See we didn't want to get ahead of ourselves before we launched so we haven't done any girls stuff yet. However we DO want to and the more feedback and positive responses we get the quicker we'll move towards doing something. If you would be so kind as to email hi-(AT)-swamisafari.com and add your interest that would be great. We'll probably do separate prints for guys and girls because unisex prints can be too much of a compromise.
.I like your tee and want more but without the print. Is that an option?
We're currently considering selling our tee as a basic in a random assortment of colourways. We'd only produce 20 or so at a time so they probably won't last. More on this in the next few months but if you could (once again) please email hi-(AT)-swamisafari.com expressing your interest in this we may be able to move on it faster.
.What screenprinting processes/inks/blah blah do you use?
We use different inks depending upon the effect we want to create. We use water based inks rather than plastisol and can also incorporate foil, flocking and discharge too. We figure it out depending upon what we're trying to convey with the design, really.
.How do you determine fabric/print colour?
Seriously? We ask the factory what combed cotton they have on hand lying around. They send us a bunch of colours of stock fabric they have that they're not using and we pick a good one and go for it. If we do higher volumes we'll do custom fabrics and colours (or more likely - ask you for what you want) but that's for later. Our print colours are determined by the fabric colour we print on, how bold we want the print to be, etc.
.Retailing & Distribution.
.Do you wholesale to retail stores?
No. Swami Safari is currently focused on being online-only.
.I'm hip and own a retail store and want your stuff. Yes/No?
Probably closer to "no" unfortunatly. We are considering working with retailers (one store per city) around the world to stock all gear produced through Project Marrakech (which includes Swami Safari). We want to build up relationships with retailers firsthand and then offer limited edition product in the stores as well as online. Getting to this point is going to take time and is not our priority.
If you're serious then drop us an email - hi-(AT)-swamisafari.com
.The Concept.
.Where did this all come from?
Well we want to explore online clothing retailing, customer-participation, communities, user-generated content and total transparency and honesty about what we do and how we do it. We've been heavily inspired by the likes of Threadless, People Like Us and Oddica. This is the first in a series of online fashion projects we're launching.
.What's with the name?
Taken off the album "Bombay the Hard Way: Guns, Cars & Sitars" by Dan the Automator and DJ Shadow.
.Whose behind this?
"etc." is. As in "et cetera". We're a fashion label based in Sydney and produce a range under the "etc" moniker each season. We're sick of the antiquated modes and methods of the fashion industry however and we're looking at doing something new. This is where Swami Safari and Project Marrakech comes in, amongst other things.
.Do you have a website?
Naturally. http://www.etcclothiers.com.au |
